copeland canoe club... canoeing and kayaking in england's lake district | sitemap | contact us copeland canoe club home what's on pictures about us seaquest welcome! events kings of the alps! in june some club members attended the incredible "king of the alps" event held in north italy (the südtirol), based near meran / merano in the beautiful passeiertal. they were part of almost 190 competitors (we were 5 out of 28 british participants) in the open kayak event nick jackson and rob stalker were placed 42nd and 43rd, with richard stalker being 62nd out of 101 competitors. david topliss and joe stalker were 6th and 7th in the kayak masters category. well done to all in a fantastic competition - we have good reason to be the "king of the alps" club! pool sessions... are now off until september: retart 11 sept on tuesday evenings at 8.00 pm. all welcome! scarness 2018 scarness this year was an interesting experience as it rained for a while... those that came had a great time and extended their horizons. some club members are nearly ready for one or two star awards. keep up the good work! thanks to andy for organising and coordinating things. anyone who can help in any way on a tuesday night at the pool will be very welcome! please speak to any one near the desk. tyne tour: 20 of us (including 3 temporary members!) paddled a somewhat low tyne on saturday 4th nov. a pleasant but cool day out! -- outdoor trips these are weather dependent, very much so in the case of river trips! many of these will be advertised on facebook. members are encouraged to check for themselves things such as weather conditions before paddling. outline planner for 2018. we hope to update this regularly, current date for it is 10-apr-2018. it includes school holiday dates for 2018-19 as well. members are asked to help us fill in dates with events they will run... calendar for 2018 (excel format). club annual meeting - was held wed 13 december: 1900 at the harbour project, swingpump lane, whitehaven. members enjoyed a buffet organised by andy (thanks andy!) and we welcomed david topliss as junior coordinator. a slide show showing club activities during the year was provided by alastair. the draft minutes are here: minutes of the agm 2017 external events our local bc group have a number of events for women, sea kayaking and open boating organised for 2018, other clubs in the area often send us information regarding events they have organised. our external events page has details. this month... all outside trips - late information will be on facebook. tuesday outside trips started on 29 may: a full list of trips on tuesday nights until september is here. 29 april - seaquest! more than 50 boats and 70 competitors took part in one of the best seaquests ever. they enjoyed light winds and intermittent sunshine on a lovely spring day - we had the prizegiving outside! lots photos asap. outdoor tuesday sessions started on 29 may. we had 24 paddlers out on a sunny and warm but very windy day and so had to cancel the "go canoeing" session planned. seaquest 2018 full results and pictures from the 2017 are also on the seaquest page. 2018 results asap. club membership club subscriptions for 2018 - membership leaflets for 2018 are available here, subscription prices are the same as last year. you can pay by direct bank transfer if you wish, details on the forms. membership leaflet 2018 you can fill in this form which just has the basic information we ask for if you like and email it back to us - details on the sheet. membership form 2018 (word format) a leaflet with information about the club and what we do is available from here information leaflet 2018 if you wish to visit us, you can download a leaflet to give us some basic information about yourself, then come along and enjoy the sessions! visit or leaflet 2018 for those that live some way away, distance membership details distance membership leaflet 2018 printing these leaflets - they are a4 landscape format. to get them properly printed double sided, turn them on the short side. this should work (no guarantees!). waterways and environment be aware... it's summer. it can still be challenging in windy conditions so please ensure you have enough clothing to keep you warm and carry safety gear as well as food / drink... the sun is now very strong at times, you really do need to have sun cream available. be careful out there... please check websites / facebook groups for information before paddling. be aware... during summer 2017 there was a theft of several (4!) open canoes from the old angler's hotel site at ennerdale. please be careful with equipment - is it marked up with your name etc?
